====== Alranle ====== ===== Formation ===== Alranle has their origins in the Jarldom of Ariussealo, as dwarven central power waned the jarldom gained more and more independence. It gained nominal independence under Camedyr Alrantora shortly before the end of dwarven rule and full autonomy with the fall of the last emperors. Camedyr's daughter and heir history:figures:Caerthynna Alrantora (1e4 - 68e4) utilized the resource-rich region and with arms and armour of skymetal conquered much of northern Eldask within her life. What followed was six centuries of violent expansion; at its fullest extent the Empire ruled over Hatbia, Walis, Eldachen, and Sinzheim; as well as Cicolia, Thax, and Gazin, which are nominally still a part of the empire, though in practice this position is restricted to a ceremonial role. Warfare is still a constant in Alranle to this day, noble children get taught fighting from a young age and the fantastical arms and armour have had a permanent effect on fashion and culture. ===== Conflict with Faresia ===== For much of its expansionist period the empire's main adversary was Faria. Centuries of on-off conflicts resulted in a long-term stalemate. The Grand Duchy of Cicolia as well as the Duchy of Thax were established as border regions within this conflict. In the year 502e4 the emperor Orsedd Alrantora managed to have an assassin infiltrate the palace of the Faresian god-king and assassinate them. In 505e4 Orsedd died and his heir history:figures:sidhhael_alrantora, who had been a follower of the newly spreading teachings of Darton of Osherin, opted for a truce with the coalition of city states that had filled the Faresian power vacuum instead of annexing the country. In the westernmost Exarchate of Faresia the old governmental institutions of Faresia continued to hold power. ===== Era of Peace ===== With the ushering in of a new region of peace, parts of the empire started vying for independence. The overseas territory of Sinzheim and Eldachen were the first to gain it, soon followed by Walis. The empire also soon stopped intervening heavily in Hatbia, which had long resisted organized rule.
