Long ago, when living beings were first created, Bradwr and Mothayra took great care to create animals that could coexist with civilization. They decided they needed a place to test their creativity further, a place for animals that would raze cities and destroy villages. So they were given the island now called Ard Alsi, the land of lizards, in the Al Shara island chain. There they created beasts big and small. From the largest, vicious carnivores like the great Tyrann, to gentle but defensive herbivores like the Trike. Many more were made.

Two notable species eventually made it off the island and managed to integrated into other ecosystems, so they spread all over the world. These are the flying Archetrixes, now a favoured pet of nobility (and some very dedicated commoners), and the small pack beasts called Compies, which roam the forests and became a pest in the cities.

Sometimes missions are launched to Ard Alsi to capture a beast to display to nobles, though this is a dangerous and costly endeavor mostly just for the entertainment of the richest of the rich.
