Wizards are a type of Spellcaster who manipulate Essence using Circles.

When a Wizard takes an apprentice they will forsake all legal family ties. Often this includes social ties as well, but many apprentices do keep up contact with their families. Instead the apprentice will take the wizards last name as their own.
The last name of a wizard denotes their Lineage, which will be traced back to a particularly powerful wizard founder. This lineage name is often the first name of the founder, who retroactively will be called “Esta” (the first). A new lineage can be started at any time if enough agree that the wizard in question is of great enough importance.

A wizard will have a symbol to associate with their lineage. If a wizard is deemed powerful enough to leave a mark on their lineage but not quite so as to be the founder of a new one, they will add to the symbol which will be passed to their apprentice etc. This way creatine a sublineage.
