Abomination |
Deel is the deity residing over the realm of the dead, they are often interpreted as the wind, flowing through the plains and touching the summits of mountains. Deel is not the bringer of death, but the companion of souls, guiding their lost essence away from the material plane. In addition they are responsible for residing over Yfasma, where she takes the essence of souls and weaves new ones from it.
Appearance
Deel is most often depicted as a giant gaunt humanoid, not much more than grey skin clinging to bones. Their eyeless sockets are covered in a blindfold and with six agile arms they reshape Essence into new souls.
Commandments
Deel cares not for most mortal matters. All they care for is that the soul is left in peace and not toyed with, as such they abhor the undead.
Worship
Deel has some of the most widespread following in materium, as every culture has dead and every culture has death. Followers of Deel run churches that serve as places of funerals and places where people may come to spend their last days, as well as having gardens with commemorative installations (similar to gravestones) that serve as a place of mourning (called the Deads' Gardens). Deel's churches can easily be recognized by their completely black stonework and tall spires, getting thinner at the top, from which ashes are scattered into the winds via a mechanical lift. Due to the nature of their work most followers of Deel are lawful or neutral good, even though the deity accepts followers of all alignments. As cremation is a key part of the practices most churches have good relations to the local church of Xaton to perform cremation.
The ranks in the religion are as follows:
| Initiate | breath or “neuma” |
|---|---|
| full follower | breeze or “anima” |
| priests and priestessess | wind or “aura” |
| region leaders (akin to bishops) | storm or “austeris” |
| highest members of the council | tempest or “procella” |
