1 - The First Age
-> Timeline
The first Age encompasses the time from Creation until the rise of the Great Kingdoms of mortals. From which point on one should start speaking of the second Age is debated, some say the first age concludes with the creation of humanity, some argue that humans still lived in simple conditions for centuries before the first of the Great Kingdoms rose.
Creation
It is agreed that before everything the Astral Sea already existed. Then came the Thought, the thing that willed the Universe into existence. Some see it is an otherworldly force, beyond even the gods, some understand it as a great Circle, others yet deny the existence of the Thought altogether and said the Universe came into being by a spontaneous Ordering of Essence. Initially the Thought conceived of the gods and of matter, coalescing it into a great swirling sphere of chaos named Pangaea, it is said that afterwards the Thought unmade itself.
Realizing how fickle the mind is, how easily what was made could be unmade, how easily a stray thought may crush through the universe like a great arrow, how easily a distraction could change what was seen as perfect, it unthought itself. Wanting to protect immaculate creation over its own existence, it scattered its Essence over all that was, its mind undone, its child forevermore extant. Commentaries on Creation by Sidhael Alrantora
Over time Pangaea was separated into an upper and a lower layer. Those former being those of pure energy, where the gods reside, the latter being those of material. In the beginning those were the four planes of earth, fire, water, and air.
Eludan
Collectively the gods took some of each of the four elemental planes and, making a pocket of space between them, created the world of Initium. There they created the elves, the first mortals. Following that they created materium as a more varied world, as opposed to Initium's endless forests. There they created more mortals: dwarves, halflings, and humans. As those, due to their shorter lifespans, started dying, the gods created Tenebris, the plane of shadow, to house the souls of the deceased. These three together constitute the trinary system of Eludan.
The Soulwind
Quickly Tenebris was full with the souls of the dead, and their energy started emanating into Materium as ghostly apparitions and vengeful shades. As a solution to this Deel created the Soulwind along with Yfasma, also known as the Weaver's Yard. The Wind carries souls away from Materium and into Yfasma, where Deel takes them apart and weaves them anew.
Dark Gods
As a reflection of the pantheon, the Thought created dark gods. Gods of murder, decay, and slaughter. Of torture and evil.
They made servants of their own, demons and devils, known as incelestials.
Though, with the bloodlust inherent to them, power quickly turned. The dark servants turned on their lords and killed them to gain their power, feasting upon their flesh.
The underworld was divided into the Abyss, the realm of demons, and the Hells, the ream of devils, their border marked by Khathon's Spine.
Since then Demons and Devils have been locked into conflict. Eternal combat, alliances, wars, contracts, and betrayals for dominance.
